    Anyway...
    I read future shock maybe 22 years ago - towards the end of high school. Haven't read it since, but I still recall strongly the thesis and its impact every time I walk through the damn supermarket. Truly - what I buy and need for the family each week could fit in tenth of the space. Other than that, meat from the butcher and fresh produce from the fruit and veg shop where I can talk to the folks who run the business and actually know their stuff. The personal interaction is part of the process, but all the choice disconnects us from that too.
